Q: How do I begin the Franchise Application Process?

Q: Do I need previous food or franchise experience to become an international franchisee?
A: Not necessarily; Duck Donuts is looking for prospective international franchisees who have management and business experience, with strong operational and financial resources.
Q: Are Single and Master opportunities available?
A: Our focus is to recruit prospective international franchisees who are interested in developing Duck Donuts in their home country, as well as the opportunity to operate a region in select cities in the US.
Q: What type of management team and training is required?
A: A potential international franchisee must provide a comprehensive and detailed three to five year business plan, which includes a management team that is devoted 100% to the development and operation of the Duck Donuts business. Training for the management team is accomplished through a 4 week training program conducted by Duck Donuts training personnel. The training program consists of 2 weeks in an existing market and 2 weeks in country.
Q: How long does the entire process take to become an international franchisee?
A: The time needed to become an international franchisee varies depending primarily upon the market and any franchise disclosure, registration that might be required.
Q: What does the initial development fee cover? Does it include start-up supplies and training?
A: The international franchise fee will vary by market and is based on a cost recovery calculation and market potential of the number of units possible in a market. These fees do not include any development or startup costs for the locations or working capital. There is no additional fee for initial training, any agreed equipment and supplies are to be purchased separately.
Q: What is the royalty fee?
A: In order to use the Duck Donuts name, trademarks, national image and logo, master franchisees are required to pay a monthly royalty fee of 5% of net revenue to Duck Donuts.
Q: Will I be assigned an exclusive territory?
A: Yes, Duck Donuts will award exclusive territories based on the target markets identified as well as other markets that have a strong potential for the development of the Duck Donuts business.
