Duck Donuts is offering its customers a sweet deal to celebrate National Donut Day on Friday, June 2. Customers will receive one free, warm, delicious and made-to-order donut of their choice with any purchase. Additionally, receipts printed on June 2 will feature an exclusive coupon for a “Buy One Get One Free 1/2 Dozen,” redeemable Monday through Wednesday until August 31.

“National Donut Day is one of Duck Donuts’ favorite holidays to celebrate with our customers and throughout the community,” said Russ DiGilio, founder and owner of Duck Donuts Franchising Company LLC. “This year, we’re excited to give our customers the opportunity to not only commemorate the day in-stores, but also on Facebook, through our ‘12 Days of Donuts’ contest, offering our fans the chance to win our famous donuts.”

Duck Donuts started the celebration early with its “12 Days of Donuts” Facebook contest, available across all stores. Now through June 2, a fan favorite donut will be featured daily. Customers will have the opportunity to comment on each post to be entered for a chance to win a dozen donuts.

National Donut Day, which is traditionally celebrated on the first Friday of June, was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. To spread the excitement of the holiday throughout the community, stores will drop off donuts to The Salvation Army and other local businesses, schools, police stations, fire departments and more.

Duck Donuts specializes in warm, delicious and made-to-order donuts. Customers can choose from a variety of topping combinations, including traditional favorites such as chocolate icing with sprinkles and more adventurous creations such as maple icing with bacon.

The family-friendly stores offer a viewing area where children and adults alike can watch their donuts being made. Duck Donuts also sells coffee, tea, donut breakfast sandwiches and more. To locate the nearest Duck Donuts, visit

Duck Donuts was founded in 2006 by Russ DiGilio in Duck, North Carolina. His intention? To solve a family vacation problem: “Our family wanted a place to buy warm, delicious, made-to-order donuts, and when we couldn’t find one, we decided to start our own.”

By 2011, Duck Donuts had expanded to four Outer Banks locations and the donut business was so successful that DiGilio was continuously approached about franchise opportunities and by fans who begged for a Duck Donuts in their communities. The first franchise opened in Williamsburg, VA, in 2013, and there are now 41 open franchise locations and nearly 130 additional contracts.
