Duck Donuts® to Raise Money for Four Diamonds Mini-THON®s Through January

12 Local High Schools Participating to Receive 10% of Store Proceeds on Designated Fundraising Days

To kick start the New Year, Hershey, Lancaster and Mechanicsburg Duck Donuts locations are teaming up with 12 local high schools to raise money for their Mini-THON®s. These Mini-THON events are modeled after the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THONTM), a year-long fundraising and awareness campaign benefitting Four Diamonds, an organization that funds various treatments and support programs to aid in the fight against childhood cancer at Penn State Children’s Hospital.

Designed to be a competition between schools, each institute is designated a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, rotating each week through the month of January. Participating Duck Donuts will donate 10 percent of a customer’s order to the school highlighted on that day. Guests must present the Mini-THON flyer or mention the fundraiser in order for the school to receive credit. The schools that raise the most money at each store will receive 10 dozen donuts for their Mini-THON event.

“The students throughout central Pennsylvania have such a passion for their Mini-THON events that their enthusiasm towards raising money for the sick children in our community is inspiring,” said Russ DiGilio, founder and CEO of Duck Donuts Franchising Company. “We look forward to supporting their fight to conquer childhood cancer and we’re excited to establish a longstanding relationship with Four Diamonds.”

The following schools will participate in the fundraising campaign. Customers are encouraged to check their local Duck Donuts’ Facebook to learn more about the fundraising dates assigned to each school.

The Four Diamonds mission is to conquer childhood cancer by assisting children and their families through superior care, comprehensive support and innovative research.

Since its creation in 1972, Four Diamonds has helped nearly 4,000 children and families by ensuring every Four Diamonds child receives the highest quality of care without ever seeing a bill for that care. Four Diamonds also supports a diverse platform of pediatric cancer research projects at Penn State Children’s Hospital and Penn State College of Medicine. Its goal is to improve new treatments and, ultimately, find a cure for children around the world.

Duck Donuts was founded in 2006 by Russ DiGilio in Duck, North Carolina. His intention? To solve a family vacation problem: “Our family wanted a place to buy warm, delicious, made-to-order donuts, and when we couldn’t find one, we decided to start our own.”

By 2011, Duck Donuts had expanded to four Outer Banks locations and the donut business was so successful that DiGilio was continuously approached about franchise opportunities by fans who begged for a Duck Donuts in their community. The first franchise opened in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 2013, and there are now 56 open franchise locations and more than 130 additional contracts in 23 states.
