Made-to-order doughnuts are coming to Woodbury.
The Pennsylvania-based chain Duck Donuts prides itself on allowing patrons to customize their pastries and watch as they’re made from scratch. The chain expects to open its first Minnesota location at 7455 Currell Blvd., in December, according to a press release.
The process begins with the restaurant’s signature vanilla cake doughnut. From there, customers can pick a powdered sugar or glazed coating, or go for a variety of icing flavors. Toppings range from the conventional sprinkles to novelty offerings like bacon. Finally, customers can drizzle their creations with hot fudge, blackberry, raspberry, salted caramel or marshmallow.
According to the company’s website, some of the most popular customer combinations include blueberry icing with blackberry drizzle, and vanilla icing with coconut and powdered sugar.
Coffee and tea are also available, as are concoctions the chain calls “doughnut breakfast sandwiches” and “doughnut sundaes.”
Since opening its first shop in Duck, N.C. in 2007, the company has opened more than 70 locations in 25 states.
